Gresham turned a commercial building fire disaster to an advantage, with a rebuilding scheme that added 60% more building volume to the same site at one-third less cost than duplicating the original.

Sacred Heart Catholic Church

E.T. Gresham Company, working with Dills Architects, Virginia Beach, Virginia, completed an adaptive re-use addition and renovation project totaling more than 10,000 square feet at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Norfolk, Virginia. Within this scope of work were renovations to the three story Rectory Building, an addition of an elevator (with fire stair), as well as work in the kitchen and chapel areas. The work went before Design Review Committee to receive an historic appropriateness certificate in Norfolk, so that it would coincide with the fabric of Norfolk’s historic Ghent area.
