Gina Newton Joins Accounting

Gina Newton has joined E.T. Gresham as an Accounting Assistant, with responsibility for supporting payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and other general accounting functions. Gina has a strong accounting background working in a similar capacity for several local companies, and she graduated Cum Laude with Honors from Tidewater Community College. In her spare time, the Hampton Roads native enjoys going to the beach (especially the Outer Banks) and spending time with her grandson.

Billy Gresham Named Pres. of Builders & Contractors Exchange

Vice President of Construction William A. “Billy” Gresham Jr. has been named President of the Virginia Builders & Contractors Exchange (BCE). Established in 1908, the BCE provides training and networking opportunities, business and workforce development services, and project bid information to their more than 500 members in the commercial construction industry. Gresham will serve as the organization’s 90th president from January to December 2022. In this role, he will guide the Board of Directors in their efforts to serve members with diligence, innovation, and quality teamwork.

James Bailey Transitions to Estimating

Long-time employee James Bailey has transitioned from Project Management into Preconstruction/Estimating. Bailey has been with the company in many capacities since the 1980’s, and his construction knowledge and relationship with subcontractors, owners, and architects make him the perfect fit for his new role as Preconstruction Manager. In this new position, he will be responsible for project planning, scheduling, and budgeting, as well as subcontractor outreach and procurement

New Project Manager, Carl Shields!

Carl V. Shields has been hired as a Project Manager with responsibility for overseeing projects from award through completion. He has a diverse background with over 25 years of experience working on new construction and renovation projects, as well as completing electrical work and performing operations management. Shields is a seasoned project manager with experience leading and managing project teams on design-build and design-bid-build projects, as well as performing contract management, pre-construction services, and quality control reviews.

Christina Gonzales – New Admin. Assistant

Christina Gonzales recently joined E.T. Gresham as an Administrative Assistant, responsible for supporting project managers and estimators in our Construction Division. She holds a B.S. in Business Administration (BSBA) with a Major in Accounting from Holy Angel University in Angeles, Philippines and she has prior experience working in the construction industry. Outside of work, Christina is a music lover, foodie, and avid traveler. She enjoys visiting the many Philippine islands, saying, “If you ask me to spell FUN, I will spell BEACH!”

Mike Krank Promotion – Project Manager

Mike Krank has been promoted from Superintendent to Project Manager. Mike has over 30 years of construction experience in a variety of positions; while attending Old Dominion University, he worked as a construction laborer at Naval Station Norfolk and, after graduating with a B.S. in Civil Engineering, he began his construction career as a Field Engineer. By 1996, he had worked his way up to Superintendent. Mike joined E.T. Gresham in 2018 as a Project Superintendent. Since his promotion, Mike has served as Project Manager for the following projects in southeastern Virginia: Wells Theatre Renovations in Norfolk, St. John’s Episcopal Church in Portsmouth, Bayside Presbyterian Church renovations in Virginia Beach, and currently the Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS) Eastern Shore Laboratory Education, Administration, and Research Complex in Wachapreague. Mike’s background in all stages of the construction process have resulted in an elevated level of proficiency in establishing construction schedules, providing expertise about construction means and methods, developing efficient project work plans, and providing a full range of construction management services during the construction phase.

Welcome Vamsi Vuggaraju, Estimating Assistant

Vamsi Krishna Vuggaraju has been hired as an Estimating Assistant with responsibility for assistance with project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and implementation. Specific duties include assisting in obtaining competitive subcontractor bids, providing detailed quantity take-offs, ensuring bids are compliant with contract requirements, and attending on-site pre-bid meetings as required. He has working knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM), Primavera P6, and AutoCAD.

Vuggaraju grew up in a family of civil engineers in India. In keeping with family tradition, he received his B.S. in Civil Engineering from the Vellore Institute of Technology, where he achieved the 2015-2016 award for Best Academic Project in Civil Engineering. After graduation, he attended The University of Texas at Arlington, where he became a fan of the Dallas Cowboys while earning his M.S. in Construction Engineering and Management in 2018. Vuggaraju began his construction career as an estimator for a drywall company in Iowa but, growing up near the ocean in India, he decided to relocate to Hampton Roads where he could enjoy a more familiar environment.

Billy Gresham named First VP of Builders & Contractors Exchange

Congratulations to E.T. Gresham Vice President Billy Gresham, who was recently named as First Vice President on the Builders & Contractors Exchange 2021 Board of Directors! The Builders & Contractors Exchange of Virginia was established in 1908 to support the local construction industry. It is a member-owned association of commercial construction companies that works to provide information, facilitate growth, offer educational and training opportunities, and host networking events.

Tony Griffin Promotion – General Superintendent

Tony Griffin has been promoted to General Superintendent for E.T. Gresham’s construction division. Tony has over 38 years of experience directing full scope construction projects for commercial, industrial, educational and government clients. His new responsibilities include overseeing the labor/equipment force, coordinating schedules with project managers and superintendents, training field crews to use project management software, and attending internal project turnover meetings.
