Gresham turned a commercial building fire disaster to an advantage, with a rebuilding scheme that added 60% more building volume to the same site at one-third less cost than duplicating the original.

Suffolk Visitor Center / Adaptive Reuse of Nansemond County Courthouse

Suffolk Visitor Center sits in the old Nansemond County Courthouse at the corner of Main Street and Constance. This project was an adaptive reuse, turning this space into a Visitor Center on the ground floor and the offices for Suffolk Economic Development on the second. In all, the total area was more than 4,100 SF. Renovation work included new finishes, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems. A small addition was also added to the rear of the building.

This project received a Certificate of Environmental Commitment from the Virginia Green Program.
